Sustainability and us
At AstraZeneca, we seek to embed sustainability into everything we do – from lab to patient. Through science-based solutions and collaboration, we believe we can help tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time, from climate change and nature loss to health equity and health system resilience.
If you want to drive positive change, then join us. Together, we can transform the delivery of healthcare to build more resilient, equitable and net zero health systems.

Access to healthcare
From prevention, early detection and diagnosis to effective treatment of disease, we provide solutions across the patient care pathway. Our ambition is to give everyone the chance to be as healthy as possible and help secure a future where all people have access to affordable, sustainable, innovative, healthcare.
We are working to identify barriers to access and innovating to deliver our life-changing medicines in a sustainable and equitable way. This includes through global, regional and local partnerships.
Through our access to healthcare programmes, including Healthy Heart Africa (HHA), Lung Health and Young Health Programmes (YHP), we have reached over 90.5 million people (cumulative). And we've trained more than 170,000 healthcare workers (cumulative).
We've done all this and more, to drive equitable access to healthcare and deliver improved health outcomes, while strengthening health system sustainability and resilience across the world.
Environmental protection
Through our Ambition Zero Carbon programme, we are taking bold climate action. We aim to reach science-based net zero by 2045, and we were one of the first seven companies worldwide to have our Scope 1-3 targets verified under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Corporate Standard.
We are also restoring nature and supporting biodiversity, including through our global AZ Forest programme. We aim to plant and ensure the long-term survival of 200 million trees by 2030, helping to build ecological and community resilience.
What does this mean for you? As a colleague at AstraZeneca, you will make a real difference, supporting the delivery of net zero, patient-centric healthcare, and working collaboratively to deliver medicines with the smallest possible environmental impact.
Ethics and transparency
As a global organisation, we strive to operate ethically and responsibly. We seek to create value beyond the impact of our medicines. This means ensuring ethical, open and inclusive behaviour across our organisation and value chain.
We emphasise values-based decision-making, speaking up as part of our ethical business culture and gender equality. In 2024, 82% of employees felt that AstraZeneca had a ‘Speak Up’ culture and 50.6% of senior middle management roles were held by women.
We continue to support issues and initiatives of importance to the local communities in which we operate and seek to tailor programmes to suit local needs and make positive contributions. We are more than just the medicines we create. That is why building trust by demonstrating integrity, transparency and fair treatment is central to everything we do.
